Efforts To Expand “Agricultural Diplomatic Relations” Between Vietnam And Japan

On 1^st March, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam authorized by the Minister Cao Duc Phat awarded the medal "For the Cause of Agriculture and Rural Development" to Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung – Minister Counselor of Vietnam Embassy in Japan.

Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam gave thanks and appreciated what Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung at Vietnam Embassy in Japan has contributed to agricultural sector, especially in efforts to expand agricultural diplomatic relations with Japan. Specifically, he supported, consulted and coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to participate in Food Security Conference in Niigata (Japan) which helped to improve the position of Vietnam agriculture in Japan as well as in other international organizations.

He also supported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote cooperation with African countries through the International Conference Program in African Development happened in Tokyo. He also supported Vietnam to participate in the Africa Rice Development Alliance Program which helped to promote agricultural diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam expressed his hope that, in the future, Mr. Dung still continues to support, to contribute more to Vietnam Agriculture. Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung also sent his sincere thanks to the attention and recognition of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for him in particular, and for Vietnam Embassy in Japan in general.

After 2 tenures and 9 years as a Minister Counselor, Mr. Dung said he has always been eager and felt proud to contribute to the development of the country's agriculture.

He also added that Japan is a difficult market, so the fact that some agricultural commodities such as dragon fruit, litchi or mango made their roads to this market today is the persistent efforts of both agricultural sector and Vietnam Embassy in Japan and not only because of him.

Mr. Dung affirmed that in upcoming period, he will continue to coordinate closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop Vietnam agriculture in a sustainable way and in accordance with the objectives set.
