Fi Vietnam, the only dedicated food and beverage ingredients exhibition in the region, will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and acts as a gateway for organisations wishing to capitalize on this unique market. HCM CITY (VNS) — Two Vietnamese businesses have registered to exhibit their products at SIAL China, Asia’s largest food and beverage show to be held May 5-7. Long An Food Processing Export JSC and Rita Food & Drink Co Ltd will take part in the 17th edition of SIAL China 2016 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. About eight other Vietnamese companies have shown interest in attending as well. The expo is expected to welcome 66,000 visitors and over 2,900 exhibitors from 65 countries, according to a representative of the organiser Comexposium.

For many years, Vietnam has proven to be as one of the world's leading rice exporters but profits remain low because product branding has not been developed and quality has been unreliable. This issue topped the agenda of a recent conference held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to find a way to improve rice exports this year. Last year Vietnam exported 6.6 million tons of rice worth more than US$2.8 billion in revenue, up 4% in quantity but down 4.5% in export value.
