Ha Giang: Cold Weather Caused a Major Influence on Crops and Livestock

In last December, due to the influence of cold weather causes mountainous districts of Ha Giang province to low temperature (-2 to 0 ° C), especially in some communes of Xin Man district the temperature is down to - 40C, appeared snow and sleet across the board.

According to the specialized agencies, the phenomenon of snow will cause significant impact on crops and risk of grasses for livestock.

Also affecting the crops, damaging phenomenon in recent days threatened to thousands of cattle such as buffaloes, cows, goats, etc. of many households in the mountainous district of the province.

According to the authorities, up to the time of 4:00 pm on 25/01/2016, the whole province had 42 buffaloes and cows died of cold weather. In which the cattle died of cold weather in Xin Man district is 12 buffaloes and cows, 20 buffaloes and cows in  Hoang Su Phi district, 6 buffaloes in Bac Me District, 4 buffaloes and cows in Yen Minh District; besides, the remaining districts still do not have statistics of cattle that died from cold weather damage.

Under these circumstances occurs by cold weather and snow damage, Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee (HG PPC) has issued urgent public about the "Urgent deployment of preventive measures for livestock from cold weather." Following the instruction of the PPC, the districts have implemented emergency measures to protect them. The agencies and departments of the districts directly went to communes and villages to help people with anti-cold for livestock and crops. Besides, the districts have promoted the propaganda to farmers on the development of the cold weather and methods to fight against cold weather for livestock. At the same time, the authorities of province and districts focus on tracking, statistical damage caused by cold weather and snow causing damage up to the timely support policies for farmers.
