High technology on 4 plants and 2 animals
According to the People's Committee of Long An province, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the province has a plan to develop agriculture by applying technology for 4 crops: rice, dragon fruit, lemon, vegetables and 2 cows, shrimp to improve the quality. Lower the cost of products to bring high income to farmers. At the same time, supporting enterprises to apply scientific and technological advances to the production, processing and consumption of goods. In addition, promoting digital transformation in the agricultural industry, building geographical indications, building brands of key agricultural products of the province.
After more than a year of implementation in Long An, the program initially brought practical economic benefits. Many localities have transformed production methods, forming concentrated, large-scale, specialized areas of raw materials associated with processing and consumption along the value-added chain.
Up to now, compared to the original plan, the province has over 29,000 hectares of rice area (reaching 48.9%), over 1,800ha of vegetables (reaching over 91%), 4,000ha of dragon fruit (nearly 67%) and over 345 lemons (reaching 11.5%) applying high technology. On beef cattle, the province also built 3 models of high-tech beef cattle breeding sites. Converting high-quality beef cattle breeds in Duc Hoa, Thu Thua, and Duc Hue. On shrimp, the area of high-tech application is 10 hectares, reaching 10% of the plan. Long An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has built and developed 47 cooperative groups and cooperatives in high-tech agricultural production areas.
Mr. Truong Van An, Director of the cooperative shared that the cooperative's dragon fruit products were exported to China, Japan, and South Korea, etc., so members still kept the area stable despite the difficult price.
In the new rural district of Chau Thanh, recently, dragon fruit trees have encountered difficulties, but thanks to the application of high technology, the product is eligible for export to other countries, so farmers are still "loyal" to the fruit tree. this. Tam Vu dragon fruit cooperative (Chau Thanh district, Long An province) has 40 members with an area of 50ha, farmers produce according to VietGAP standards.
And Mr. Nguyen Kinh Kha, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Hoa district, said that rice farmers in the district have implemented 100% mechanization in the production stages. The locality is promoting the application of high technology on rice, lemon trees, ... with many positive results. High-tech rice cultivation increases productivity by 10-20% per unit area, reducing costs by 2-3 million VND/ha/crop.
Tan Thanh plans the area of specialty fruit trees with high technology application
Mr. Le Thanh Dong, Chairman of Tan Thanh District People's Committee said: Implement the national target program to build new rural areas associated with agricultural restructuring. Over the past time, the District People's Committee has strengthened the direction of product development, application of scientific and technical advances, building high-tech rice models, converting crops and livestock to increase income for farmers. farmer households.
Thanks to the implementation of this model, the quality of rice as well as the income from rice cultivation of people increased significantly. Last year, per capita income in rural areas in the district was 58.43 million VND/person/year. Thanks to the investment in an electric pumping station, farmers sowed at the same time, managing pests better. In addition, farmers boldly reduced the variety from 180kg/ha to about 120kg/ha and applied chemically and organically balanced fertilizers, thereby improving the quality of rice seeds. In the short term, people save costs from 1.5 to 2 million VND/ha.
Using drones to spray nutrients on 1ha of 65-day-old rice in Truong Cong Y hamlet, Tan Lap rural commune, Tan Thanh district, Mr. Duong Cong Binh said: "Since the service of spraying pesticides by airplane, we have been using drones to spray pesticides. The rice is very healthy, but it saves about 20% more. Spraying is 150,000 VND/ha, compared to hiring someone to spray, it saves 30,000 VND, but hiring someone is very difficult.”
Mr. Binh added that, since the commune campaigned to do "3 decrease, 3 increase", "1 must 5 decrease", participating in the high-tech rice model increased income significantly thanks to the reduction of money for seeds, fertilizers, and chemicals. learn. The people who perform the spraying service will collect the packaging and put it in the right place, so the environment is very clean and ecological.
Notably, Tan Thanh district is planning Tan Lap fruit tree area as a specialty fruit tree area applying high technology combined with garden tourism associated with four houses. Initially, there were 5/14 cooperatives associated with Loc Troi Group to produce high-tech rice with VietGAP standards. Regarding fruit trees, there is Tan Thanh FreshFruit Cooperative associated with The Fruit Republic Can Tho Company to produce and consume seedless lemons.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Nghia, Vice Chairman of Tan Lap Commune People's Committee, the commune was selected by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to build a high-quality fruit tree material area. The project is supported by traffic works, factories, and drying equipment with a cost of about 15 billion VND.
According to the Long An Provincial Rural Development Coordination Office, in the first six months of 2022, five more communes will be recognized as meeting new rural standards. Up to now, the whole province has 112/161 communes that have met the standards of rural areas, and 21 communes that have met the standards of advanced rural areas.
According to Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province, in order to increase added value for agricultural products, businesses and people must look in one direction. The two sides look at the same goal, share benefits and difficulties. Together to build raw material areas to meet export standards, promote linkages and put prestige on the top.
The State needs to have key supporting mechanisms and policies to create a driving force to promote linkages between businesses, cooperatives and farmers. It is necessary to gather granaries, producers, and businesses into clubs or associations and reorganize the community extension system. Thus, the consumption of agricultural products in the coming time will develop stably and sustainably.
