Along the road leading to Mr. Phuc's longan garden, the color of the purple longan variety is quite eye-catching, making reporters both excited and curious to learn about this variety. According to Mr. Phuc, on an area of 4 hectares, he cultivated many varieties of longan, purple longan was also born from a mutant canoe longan. Realizing the beautiful color, thick rice, small seeds, on the contrary, he decided to graft and develop this purple longan.

This farmer added that, in the first season of fruit harvest, the price of purple longan was at 80,000 VND/kg, now entering the busy harvest season of many fruits, so the price has decreased somewhat. , but still at a high level of 50,000 VND/kg. Mr. Phuc successfully grafted 150 purple longan roots to serve farmers wishing to develop this longan variety in the area.
In addition to the fancy purple longan, Mr. Phuc's garden also has a new variety of longan for "super fruit" of high economic value, which he plans to name the Western longan. The outstanding feature of this longan variety is that it is easy to handle flowering, less susceptible to pests and diseases, high yield, on average on an area of 1,000 square meters, new varieties of longan produce 400-500 kg of fruit.
According to the reporter's observations, each bunch of longan here weighs from 3 to 4 kg, the longan grows in separate bunches, few fruits are worn. The whole garden is currently planting 1,250 "super fruit" longan trees and is grafting 500 seedlings to replicate and transfer to farmers who have development needs.
“Now, how much do I sell for 1 kg of longan to the market, I will sell a seedling for the same price as 1 kg of longan. So that people can replicate and develop this variety, "said Mr. Phuc.

By consulting the market in Ho Chi Minh City's wholesale markets, Mr. Phuc said: "The new longan is not less than 80,000 VND/kg, in fact now the barn is buying me at 100,000 VND/kg and the price is included. buy the whole garden. I evaluate, for longan farmers, the longan fruit is 15,000 VND/kg, which is already profitable, this longan fruit when the market fluctuates, still does not lose 30,000 VND/kg, farmers do not face difficulties.
Besides, the new longan variety planted about 6.5 months can give fruit, if the market price is not reasonable, the longan can be anchored for another 1.5 months without the fruit being swollen, berry or cracked. not cool.
Great way to grow successful longan
Sharing about the secret of success with longan, this old farmer said that, in addition to planting techniques, farmers must have enthusiasm and market thinking to be able to develop sustainably with longan. Mr. Phuc pointed out that, in order to produce a new "super-fruit" variety, it took him many years to combine many varieties of longan with domestic and foreign origin to suit the environment. difficult to handle flowering, after 7 failed attempts to re-select the original longan with outstanding characteristics to retain and develop until today.

According to Mr. Phuc, the technique of growing longan is also relatively simple, farmers convert production from rice land to develop a garden economy, actively move to high mounds, provide enough water for the plants, especially in winter. sunlight, focusing on the use of organic fertilizers, the organic content supplied to the soil must account for over 60%. “The current market favors gardeners using organic fertilizers.” He affirmed that if farmers apply organic fertilizers, longan gardens will surely give high yields. Phuc's own secret to using organic fertilizer is to use probiotics to incubate pangasius for more than 3 months, then fertilize the longan garden.

In addition, super fruit longan seedlings after being successfully grafted have the highest price of up to 1,500,000 VND/seedling. Mr. Phuc added that from 6.5 months to 1 year, super fruit longan can be processed for fruit, but in order to reduce labor and increase productivity, Mr. Phuc advises that the tree should be maintained for up to 2 years. five. At the same time, in order to buy seedlings at a low price, growers should join cooperation with cooperatives to buy seedlings in bulk at preferential prices.
