Two students have invented a house which protects people in areas near the Khanh Son dumping ground in Da Nang City from pollution. Quach Duc Huy, one of two students, said he began thinking of creating the house after watching the TV news about local residents in the polluted areas trying to prevent garbage-carrying trucks from entering the dumping ground. Huy and Tran My Duyen, another student, and their teacher visited the site to learn about the real situation there and discuss the solutions.

A TRADE delegation is promoting Israeli irrigation technology that helps cut costs and makes water use by farmers more efficient. In a news conference yesterday in Makati, Effie Ben Matityau, Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines, said Israel’s technology permits “intensive” cultivation in desert areas where water is considered a precious resource. He cited the country’s expertise in drip irrigation to promote maximum utilization of water without sacrificing the quality and yield of agricultural produce.

A physics teacher and his students at a high school in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre have developed a solar-powered water desalination machine to provide precious drinking water for the drought-stricken area. Physics teacher Truong Huu Dung and his students at Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School in Ben Tre City, the provincial capital, are in the final stage of creating a water desalination machine that costs around VND2 million (US$90) and could produce six liters of fresh water a day.

According to the decision, by 2020, Vietnam will have 10 agricultural high-tech application zones, eight of which were approved by the provincial People's Committee for the establishment. Thanks to this decision, the agricultural high-tech parks and regions will open a new prospect for the development of agricultural sector in particular and Vietnam ecomony in general. In terms of missions, these agricultual hi-tech parks will be the places of research, test and presentation of agricultural hi-tech products. HANOI - Ready-to-eat tomatoes, and lettuce, grown without soil, and consumed unwashed, are the future in Vietnam and people will soon have the chance to experience this form of ‘smart agriculture’. This year, this IT-based agricultural project will experiment on growing high-value-added vegetables including medium-sized tomatoes and low-potassium leaf lettuce that will be the source of clean, ready-to-eat food. The potassium content in this kind of lettuce is one-fifth as compared with lettuce grown in any ordinary way making it suitable for diabetics and people who are on a diet.
 

HA NOI — Cutting-edge technology will be applied in the cultivation of tomatoes and low-potassium lettuce in Viet Nam as part of an agriculture collaboration between Vietnamese multinational information technology corporation FPT and Fujitsu, a leading provider of IT products and services. At the opening ceremony of the FPT-Fujitsu smart agriculture cooperation centre yesterday, Chairman of FPT's Board of Directors Truong Gia Binh underscored that being a leading IT enterprise in Viet Nam, FPT wants to bring state-of-the-art technologies to modernise the country's agriculture.

NEW ORLEANS, U.S - A coalition of major farm organizations, commodity groups and agriculture technology providers (ATPs) debuted a tool designed to help farmers understand how their data will be used when they adopt precision agriculture technologies. New technologies and products are constantly entering the marketplace and generating millions of bits of data about farmers' fields, crops and equipment. A recent survey found that an overwhelming number of farmers do not know what happens to their data when they use these new technologies.

Israeli farmers work the land not just as a source of income, it is their connection to the land of their ancestors. The ministers of finance and agriculture have promised to lower the price of produce before the holidays, among other things by importing cheaper crops to encourage competition. The agriculture minister's position gets support, among others, from the Kohelet Policy Forum, which represents right-wing economic policies imported from the Americans.

ISRAEL - Remote Sensing allows farmers to monitor soil data without the need for deploying sensors in the fields. Remote Sensing defined as the practice and technologies that enable collecting, analyzing and monitoring land data without any physical devices on the ground. HANOI -- A Japanese team including Fujitsu engineers will test the use of remote monitoring to help Vietnamese farmers improve crop yields and keep track of produce prices.

The effort begins this month. The team will install several dozen sensors on a 1,000-sq.-meter farm in Vietnam's Ha Nam Province to monitor weather, soil and growth conditions in nearly real time. Fujitsu will build the system, while Aeon Agri Create will analyze the data in Japan to provide guidance to Vietnamese farmers.
