WHAT WE HAVE?
1. Abolish the regulation on quarantine for frozen processed aquatic products used for food
On November 29, 2021, VASEP sent an urgent letter to the Government and the Prime Minister to report on the biggest problem facing the seafood community today, which is the inspection of frozen imported seafood products for food. was again placed in the “quarantine” list.
2. Seafood exports hit 8 billion USD
According to Customs statistics, by mid-November 2021, the country's seafood exports reached US$7.52 million, up 3.2% over the same period last year. Seafood exports in the first half of November 2021 recovered with a growth rate of 24%, it is estimated that in November, exports will reach about 875 million USD, up 18%. According to the report, by the end of November 2021, seafood export is estimated at nearly 8 billion USD, up 3.7% over the same period in 2020.
3. Da Nang: Enterprises actively take care of raw materials for production
Currently, the supply of input materials is in short supply while prices are high compared to other times of the year. This has a significant impact on production and business activities at the end of the year as well as the implementation of the plan in the first months of 2022.
4. FAO: World shrimp market in the first half of 2021 and forecasts
According to the FAO report, the world supply of farmed shrimp will remain stable in the first half of 2021. While demand for shrimp has faltered in China, demand has increased sharply in Western markets. Thanks to steady production and improved export processing facilities, Ecuador increased shrimp exports to existing and emerging markets. The Indian shrimp industry continues to face the Covid-19 crisis and the entire supply chain is affected. Meanwhile, Vietnam and Indonesia still maintain stable exports thanks to stable supply and production of value-added goods
5. ASEAN pangasius exports are recovering
By the end of October 2021, the total value of pangasius exports to the ASEAN market reached 94.2 million USD, down about 17% compared to the same period last year. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic from the end of 2019 until now, pangasius exports to some potential markets in the region have not yet recovered.
6. Vietnam promotes tuna exports to the Middle East
In the first 10 months of 2021, the export value of tuna to the Middle East reached USD 57.5 million, up 15% over the same period in 2020. The Middle East continues to be the 4th largest tuna export market of Vietnam after Vietnam. US, EU and CPTPP. Currently, many tuna businesses are shifting their exports to Middle East markets.
