On 11/1/2012, the Intellectual Property Department (Ministry of Science & Technology) gave a Certificate of exclusive brands for the Suoi Giang tea. In the morning of 16/02/2016 in Suoi Giang commune, Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province, Association for Natural Protection and Environment in collaboration with the Vietnam People's Committee of Van Chan district celebrated the announcement of the decision in which 400 Shan Tuyet trees (scientific name is Camellia sinensis) that are located in 4 villages, namely Giang A, Giang B, Pang Can and Ban Moi and lie on the altitude from 1.300 to 1.800m with the age of 300 are recognized as heritage tree of Vietnam.

Suoi Giang tea is recognized as Vietnam's heritage tree
Suoi Giang commune now has over 300 hectares of ancient Shan tea growing naturally. This is by far the biggest ancient Shan tea populations in Vietnam, which is considered by scientists as the ancestor of the world tea. This commune provides from 400-500 tons of tea products of all kinds to market every year.
Suoi Giang tea are special trees with famous delicious taste: blue water with strong taste which is well-known by a lot of customers inside and outside the country. Thanks to Suoi Giang tea tree, lives of people here have changed a lot.

On 11/1/2012, the Intellectual Property Department (Ministry of Science & Technology) gave a Certificate of exclusive brands for the Suoi Giang tea. There are two units which are Duc Thien Co. Ltd and Suoi Giang tea cooperatives registered to use and produce following process of the label.
Suoi Giang tea tree not only have economic value but also have cultural and spiritual values of the Mong ethnic people there. Therefore, after several months of surveying and evaluating, the Nature and Environment Conservancy Council of Vietnam has decided to recognize the population of 400 ancient Suoi Giang tea trees as Vietnam's heritage trees in Decision No. 132 / QD-HMTg dated 04.02.2016, signed by the Chairman of the council, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh.
This recognition not only improve the position of Suoi Giang tea trees but also pose many challenges for the protection and promotion of the values of Suoi Giang tea trees for economic and socio-cultural development of ethnic communities here.
