Many export orders to European and American markets
Despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuations in international markets, it is estimated that in March 2022, the total goods export turnover of Ho Chi Minh City enterprises at border gates across the country reached 4,585.5 million USD, up by 42.7% compared to the previous month. Export alone (excluding crude oil) reached 4,428.8 million USD, up by 44.7%. At this time, many businesses said that there will be more positive signs in the second quarter, when the demand for agricultural products in major markets around the world recovers.
In the first quarter of 2022, Phuc Sinh Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City) exported 700 containers of coffee and black pepper to Europe, the US and North America... The company’s export has increased by 30% compared to the same period last year. According to this company, when the pandemic in several countries shows signs of slowing down, the demand for essential food products will increase. Therefore, it is likely that businesses will receive more orders in the coming months.
This company’s representative also said that some Vietnamese specialty products that the US needs to import to meet domestic consumption are vegetables, fruits, coffee, tea, black pepper, rubber, cashew nuts, seafood... If technical barriers are overcome, exports to fastidious markets will continue to grow strongly in the near future. New markets such as Asia and the Middle East also come back with import orders.

Several exporters of raw and processed agricultural products reported that they have received enough orders until the end of the second quarter.
Meanwhile, DhFoods, an exporter of Vietnamese spices to European and American markets, also believes that there are great opportunities to export Vietnamese spices to these major markets in the coming years. It is important for manufacturers to capture the major tastes, and to understand the market. Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung, Chairman and CEO of DhFoods, said that the export ratio of Dh Foods accounts for nearly 10% of total revenue, which is expected to increase to 30% by 2025.
Facilitating goods circulation
According to Ho Chi Minh City’s Statistics Office, in the first two months of 2022, the group of agricultural products with export value worth more than 695 million USD, increased by 63.3% compared to the same period last year and accounting for 10.1% of total export turnover.
Besides recovery signs from the import markets, exporters said that they are actively expanding to new markets such as Japan, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, etc. However, many exporters of raw and processed agricultural products also expect to receive more support in terms of export and customs clearance policies in the current context when input costs for many services have risen substantially.
Speaking recently in a dialogue with businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Thang, Director of the Customs Department of Ho Chi Minh City said that according to Decision 38, in the near future there will be more specialized inspection centers like the one in Cat Lai. Customs documentation and clearance will speed up, cutting logistics costs, time, travel and assisting businesses in clearing goods.
Experts predict that in 2022, the COVID-19 pandemic will still affect global trade in goods, therefore processed and canned products will still remain popular among consumption trends. Therefore, exporters need to focus on this segment to dominate markets and receive advantages in goods circulation.
