Thanks to the effective solutions of the agricultural sector, agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the first 6 months of 2022 still maintained a good increase, in the context of the impact of erratic weather from the beginning of the second quarter of 2022 and input prices increased.
Keeping the momentum of cultivation and livestock stable
According to GSO statistics, the winter-spring rice cultivation area nationwide this year reached 2,992 thousand hectares, equal to 99.5% of the winter-spring crop last year. As of mid-June, localities across the country have sown 1,829.5 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, equaling 99.5% of the same period last year, of which the Mekong Delta region reached 1,442.9 thousand hectares. , equal to 99.8%.

Particularly, the output of cashew and dragon fruit decreased compared to the same period last year, reaching 321.9 thousand tons, down 16.5% due to the influence of unseasonal rain during the flowering period, causing the cashew flower to be damaged and not bear fruit; dragon fruit reached 606.8 thousand tons, down 7.4% because the selling price of dragon fruit decreased, so farmers reduced the planting area.
Buffalo and cow raising in the first 6 months of 2022 is affected by severe cold and harmful cold in the first two months of the year. Pig and poultry production recovered due to the well-controlled disease, farmers were proactive in breeding stock and the market demand increased. However, the livestock industry still faces difficulties due to high feed prices, especially for small-scale farmers.
Facing the pressure of high feed costs, GSO said that local authorities and specialized agencies have come up with long-term solutions, supporting and guiding farmers to take advantage of natural resources. materials are available to partially replace industrial feed, and at the same time, it is necessary to continue to promote the construction of the supply chain from farm to fork.
Increased logging activities replace the shortage of raw materials

Marine exploitation output decreased due to high gasoline prices
Regarding seafood, according to GSO, the total production of aquatic products in the first 6 months of the year was estimated at 4,196.8 thousand tons, up 2.5% over the same period last year (in the second quarter of 2022, it reached 2,333.3 thousand tons, up 2.3%). 9%, including: Fish reached 3,044.4 thousand tons, up 1.7%; shrimp reached 520 thousand tons, up 9.4%; other aquatic products reached 632.4 thousand tons, up 1.2%.
