Gia Lai needs 5,200 billion VND to develop medicinal plants

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has just approved a proposal on conservation and development of medicinal plants in the province until 2025 with an orientation to 2030.

According to the proposal, by 2030, the growing area of medicinal plants in the province will reach approximately 20.000 hectares. Medicinal plants will be prioritized for development in districts with great potential and advantages such as Kbang, Dak Doa, Mang Yang, An Khe, Chu Se, Chu Puh, Chu Prong, Ia Pa.

In order to implement this project, Gia Lai needs to develop at least 6 medicinal seed production facilities to provide high-quality seedlings, ensuring supply for 100% of the demand for seedlings for participating organizations and individuals. medicinal plants. In addition, Gia Lai also needs to develop branding for at least 4 medicinal products and to create 10 more medicinal products associated with the province's OCOP program.

To achieve the goal of the project, the total capital needed is around 5.200 billion VND including 3.310 billion VND for the period 2021-2025, 1.890 billion VND for 2026-2030. According to the plan, the State’s contribution is 477 billion VND and non-state 4.723 billion VND.

Gia Lai's approval of the project on development of medicinal plants is aimed at conserving and sustainably developing a number of precious medicinal plant types suitable with the province's natural and socio-economic conditions.

The development of medicinal plants will also contribute to the restructuring of crops in the direction of centralized production, forming a sustainable value chain, turning medicinal plants into a field of strength in agricultural production of Gia Lai province.
