Nearly USD 5 billion spent on animal feed and material imports

According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, turnover from imports of animal feed and materials of all kinds into Vietnam in 2021 exceeded USD 4.93 billion, up 28.4% over 2020.

As a consequence, imports of animal feed and materials over the past year are USD 1 billion higher than in 2020 (imports reached USD 3.841 billion in 2020) and is an all-time record in imports of this category of products.

The main markets supplying animal feed and materials for Vietnam are still Argentina, the US, Brazil and the EU. Of which, imports originated the most from Argentina, reaching USD 1.66 billion, accounting for 33.6% of the total turnover of the country’s imports of animal feed and materials, increasing 7.8% compared to 2020.

Followed by the US, turnover increased sharply by 61.7% compared to 2020, reaching USD 817.64 million, accounting for 16.6% of the total turnover of animal feed and materials import.

Imports of animal feed and materials from Brazil’s market in 2021 reached USD 659.69 million, accounting for 13.4%, increasing sharply by 68.4% compared to 2020; imports from the EU’s market reached USD 398.25 million, accounting for 8%, increasing by 39.7%; imports from South East Asia’s market reached USD 362.22 million, accounting for 7.3%. increasing by 20.9%.

In general, in 2021, the import turnover of animal feed and materials from major markets has increased compared to 2020.
