On 12/31/2015, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) officially approved brackish water shrimp planning in the Mekong River Delta (MRD) until 2020, 2030. It is considered as the base for the whole region shrimp farming to generate maximum production value, efficiency and sustainability.
Last year, while sea food exports to traditional market such as USA, Japan and EU decline, ASEAN increase seafood imports from Vietnam, and this trend is expected to continue this year.
Farmers in U Minh and Tran Van Thoi Ward (Ca Mau Province) said, the demand for wild-caught fish exceeds its supply so fish price rises to the highest level in recent years. The authorities identified that fish yield in CaMau province in 2015-2016 period is estimated at 20.000 tons, goes down by 10.000 tons compared to previous period. This is the lowest quantity in the last 5 years. Currently, total quantity reach 15.000 tons, in which snakehead, perch, mulch yields is 8000 tons, 2000 tons and 1500 tons respectively, the rest belongs to other types of fish.

HCM CITY (VNS) — The rubber industry expects another difficult year due to falling prices and low demand in the global market, the Viet Nam Rubber Group has said.
Speaking at a review meeting in HCM City on Friday, Tran Thoai, the company's deputy general director, said Viet Nam exported 1.14 million tonnes of natural rubber worth US$1.53 billion last year, an increase of 7.1 per cent in volume but a decrease of 13.5 per cent in value as prices dropped.
