France's cashew imports: More from Vietnam, less from India

Cashew nuts imports are more frequent in France this year, especially cashew nuts from Vietnam, resulting in an increase in Vietnam's shares in this market.

According to statistics from the International Trade Centre (ITC), France’s imports of cashew nuts reached 13,872 tons, valued at USD 109.69 million over 10 months of 2021. This results in an increase of 17.5% in quantity and 11.6% in value over the same session of 2020.

Vietnam is the largest supplier of cashew nuts for France, the import quantity reached 9.63 thousand tons, worth approximately USD 74 million over 10 months of 2021, up 26.9% in quantity and 20.8% in value over the same session of 2020.

Vietnam’s cashew nuts market shares in the total import quantity of France increased from 63.34% over 10 months of 2020 to 69.46% over 10 months of 2021.

In contrast, France decreased its import of cashew nuts from India over 10 months of 2021, down 24.7% in quantity and 27.4% in value in comparison with the same session of 2020, reaching only 1.34 thousand tons, worth USD 12.16 million.

India’s cashew nuts market shares in the total import quantity of France decreased from 15.04% over 10 months of 2020 to 9.64% over 10 months of 2021.
