Implementing the national program on trade promotion in 2022, on April 20, the Trade Promotion Department under Ministry of Industry and Trade holds an export consulting session on exporting to Swiss market.
In this consulting session, regulations, standards and conditions for exporting processed products (from agricultural products, food…) as well as an overview of the Swiss market will be discussed by Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuong, Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in Switzerland in details.
After that, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuc, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Switzerland Business Bridge, will consult Vietnamese businesses on appropriate measures and methods to access the Swiss market for agricultural products and food.
It is expected that a Vietnamese enterprise in Switzerland specializing in importing seafood products will also participate by sharing market experiences for Vietnamese businesses at the consulting session.
For the last years, economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Switzerland have grown postively. According to data from Swiss Customs, the total import-export turnover between the two countries increased from $1.53 billion in 2015 to $2,407 billion in 2021. Vietnam has been consistenly running a trade surplus in this market.
The structure of Vietnam's export products to Switzerland is also consistenly expanding. The number of groups of goods exported from Vietnam to Switzerland has increased from 80 groups in 2015 to 92 groups in 2021 (2-digit HS code).
In 2021, Vietnam's exports to Switzerland reached 1.878 billion USD. Vietnam's agriculture and food exports to Switzerland are focused on seafood, coffee, processed foods, cashew nuts... These are considered products with great potential in raising export turnover.
In Vietnam, there are more than 100 active Swiss companies including big names such as Nestle, ABB, Novatis, Roche, Holcim... Many Swiss enterprises are very interested in expanding business opportunities with Vietnam in the near future.
Mr. Le Hoang Tai, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Department under Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that in order to increase exports to Switzerland, businesses need to carefully study this potential market. Participating in the Export Consulting session to the Swiss market will be a good opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to gain useful information related to the export and import of goods with this potential market./.
