Can Tho is ready for Agritechnica Asia Live 2022

In order for the Agritechnica Asia Live 2022 event to take place successfully and make an impression on farmers, and domestic and international businesses, on August 16, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam chaired the meeting. report on the organization, to review the entire content of the event.

Preparation for demonstration activities: technology, operation of advanced and modern machinery and equipment applied in sustainable agricultural production, smart rice farming models, demonstration of bio-fertilizer, production rice seed production… Mekong Delta Rice Institute has spent about 20 hectares of fields, with 9 models with the participation of 8 demonstration units. The event is expected to attract about 4,000 delegates, farmers, and experts.

In addition, over the past time, businesses have conducted 59 demonstration models of smart rice farming adapting to climate change in the Mekong Delta, cluster seeding model, etc. at 134 demonstration sites on an area close to 135 hectares.

At the Agricultural Extension Centers of the Mekong Delta region, 25 models and extension projects have been demonstrated in the fields of cultivation, forestry, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, aquatic products, etc. on a scale of more than 2,074 hectares.

Accompanying the demonstration of experimental mechanization in the field was a series of international seminars and seminars on Synchronous mechanization towards sustainable agriculture, a summary of the CORIGAP program, and consultation. building the Center for Mechanization in the Mekong Delta, mechanizing fruit production in Tien Giang province, and mechanizing production, farming, and fishing in Soc Trang province. Workshops will take place from August 22 to August 25, 2022.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam noted that the content of the seminars must be closely related to the actual situation, demonstrating the role of human resource training for synchronous mechanization. Thereby helping farmers and businesses gain more experience in production and business. At the same time, the Deputy Minister emphasized that this is a key international event of Vietnam's agricultural industry in 2022, bearing the special imprint of the Mekong Delta. This is also an opportunity for people to quickly and effectively access modern technologies. Through this event, it also creates a playground for domestic and foreign businesses to promote products, and modern technology, and promote exchange and cooperation in the field of agriculture. Therefore, all preparations need to be thoughtful and thorough to ensure a successful event.

Over the past time, the Government has paid attention and has many policies to support agricultural development in general and agricultural mechanization in particular, such as Credit policy, interest rate support for buyers of machinery and equipment agriculture, or VAT exemption policy for the import of specialized machinery and equipment in agriculture… The policy on the development of mechanization has been launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. However, compared with the average income of agricultural workers about 43 million VND/person/year, the application of mechanization is still very limited. This requires, promoting synchronous mechanization in agricultural production, and applying smart and environmentally friendly technologies, in order to move towards digitization and automation of agricultural production as an inevitable solution.

This Agritechnica Asia Live 2022 event will be like a strong message calling for the whole political system to get involved. For the purpose of building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and smart farmers, towards sustainable development. 

The series of events Agritechnica Asia Live 2022 with the theme "Synchronized mechanization towards sustainable agriculture" is chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the People's Committee of Can Tho City, in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Co-organized by German Agricultural Association (DLG).

The goal of the event is to scale the application of agriculture 4.0 and smart technologies through live demonstrations of mechanization and digital agriculture. At the same time, propose policies and roadmap for the application of technology for sustainable agricultural economic transformation, suitable to the actual context of each field and each country.
