Changing the ranking of Vietnam's shrimp industry thanks to varieties
Through exclusive cooperation with CSIRO Institute (Australian National Industrial and Scientific Research Agency), from 2010 to now, Viet Uc has been a pioneer in investing in broodstock field.
After many years of genetics and breeding, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has officially allowed the Viet Uc Group to put broodstock vannamei shrimp into commercialization, marking a new breakthrough for the Vietnamese shrimp industry.
The broodstock breeding program has brought Vietnam into one of the four major powers (USA, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) that can actively source broodstock, contributing to changing the ranking of Vietnam's shrimp industry. on the world map. From there, creating an initiative in the production of high-tech shrimp seed sources, increasing the success rate and profit for farmers.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Managing Director of Viet Uc Quang Ninh Co., Ltd said that after a long time of research, Viet Australia shrimp seed has improved its traits, not only focusing on fast growth but also strong resistance, good adaptability, completely disease free.
The ultimate goal of this broodstock breeding program is to isolate and preserve the best genes. Since then, continue to promote these traits and bring to market generations of increasingly superior shrimp seed.
From the early days, realizing the importance of shrimp seed, Viet Uc Group has researched and brought superior technological solutions to Vietnam and applied it to production.
For the best rearing of the seed, Viet Uc invests in producing food for shrimp larvae, including fresh algae and Artemia with outstanding nutritional ingredients, meeting the needs of comprehensive development and being likened to "" breast milk” helps to improve the quality of shrimp seed.
In 2021, high-tech shrimp seed VUS LEADER 21 was born. To get this shrimp, during the rearing process, Viet Uc Group increased the diet, using twice the amount of fresh algae and Artemia. This is a new breed of shrimp that stands out with outstanding traits such as 10% faster growth compared to the previous generation, stronger resistance, better adaptation, better head.
While chatting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang took out his ID card and waltzed. According to him, every citizen from birth to adulthood has an identity document, so does the Vietnamese Australian shrimp seed. Thanks to the application of electronic technology, it is possible to shoot a chip at each shrimp, such as issuing a "identity card" for each individual. From there, shrimp are isolated, monitored and screened on each individual, to avoid kinship, inbreeding and help farmers trace the origin.
Taking a step further, Viet Uc gradually applies the most modern and advanced research in the field of biotechnology, such as Gene/AND technology, molecular genetic technology, and quantitative genetic technology. Thus, helping to decode the entire shrimp genome on a large scale.
With a methodical and thorough investment from technology, team, facilities, high-tech shrimp seed VUS LEADER 21 brings "new wind", creating peace of mind, ensuring success for farmers. shrimp throughout the country before each new stocking crop.
"Towards the general development of Vietnam's shrimp industry and maximum support for farmers, Viet Uc Quang Ninh also offers services of water environment testing, testing, medical examination on farmed shrimp, consulting solutions. sustainable high-tech farming, meeting the standards of traceability and food safety and hygiene", Mr. Thang emphasized.
Region reflects on seed
The quality of shrimp seed is one of the most important factors in disease control during culture. Therefore, stock-raised shrimp need to be purchased from production facilities with clear origin, quality assurance broodstock according to regulations.
"One breed, two lips, three baits, four skills", this is a saying that many generations of shrimp farmers as well as aquaculture farmers often hear from each other, as implicitly affirming that the quality of seed is the most important factor. head. However, in the view of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, all 4 factors of seed, environment, feed and technology are equally important, farmers need to ensure a balance of 4 factors for successful farming.
Besides, the relevant factor was also emphasized by Mr. Thang. “It is appropriate here that the breed from the South and the North will have different characteristics. In the North, the weather is colder, so besides the trait of fast growth, it is necessary to be able to adapt well to weather conditions and to withstand cold. Therefore, Vietnamese Australian shrimp varieties are studied to select characteristics suitable to the environment and weather of each region. Customers when working with Viet Uc can "order" shrimp seed corresponding to the environment and weather of the farming area. From there, limiting the risks in shrimp farming, "said Mr. Thang.
Besides, shrimp farmers can use sensory evaluation measures to select quality shrimp seeds. Sensory assessment of size, light color, obvious pigmentation, closed antennae, long, slender abdominal segments, full abdominal muscles, full shell flesh, well-proportioned head and body.
"In addition, when stocking shrimp seed into the pot, stir with hands, strong shrimp often swim against the current or stick around the wall of the pot, and weak shrimp gather in the middle. weak shrimp, bad shrimp and should not be bought", said Mr. Thang while stirring the water in the pot with his fingers.
Healthy shrimp seed has other factors such as complete shrimp suborder, no parasites, intestinal full of food, and no luminous disease. Large hepatopancreas and many fat drops when observed under the microscope are good shrimp, but if the hepatopancreas is small, white, few drops of fat are infected shrimp. In addition, the observation under the microscope can also detect the staining of shrimp seeds by parasites and fungi.
According to the survey, users of Vietnamese Australian shrimp seed in Quang Ninh share their satisfaction with the quality and productivity of commercial shrimp. In addition, Viet Uc also supports shrimp seed for farmers in the event of a disease that causes shrimp to die so that farmers can be somewhat secure against the risks in the farming process.
Gradually proactively source local seed
Determining the role of aquatic breeds, Quang Ninh province has focused on producing and importing quality seed to meet the needs of the people.
If in 2015, the number of aquatic breeds stocked in the province was 3,852 million heads, the number of breeds produced on the spot was 550 million, only meeting 14.3% of the farmers' stocking demand, by 2021, the number of aquatic breeds stocked in the province is 5,421 million, the number of seed produced on the spot is 2,110 million, meeting nearly 40% of the stocking demand of farmers.
