China is a large and potential market for fresh durian consumption for Vietnam. Therefore, the negotiation process to open the market has been started by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which directed the Plant Protection Department to start in 2018.
Recently, the General Department of Customs of China has agreed to pilot import of Vietnamese passion fruit from July 2022.
Thus, durian is the 11th fruit of Vietnam allowed to be exported to China, along with dragon fruit, watermelon, lychee, longan, banana, mango, jackfruit, rambutan, mangosteen and passion fruit.
