Rijk Zwaan 's bell peppers are popular in the market

Limit the use of pesticides and increase the use of beneficial natural enemies to control pests throughout the crop life cycle - This is the goal of the project "Bio Pro & Rijk Value Connection" Zwaan - Greenhouse farming - Safety, productivity" is implemented by Rijk Zwaan Vietnam and Bio pro - Da Lat Hasfarm. Bio pro - Da Lat Hasfarm is also a pioneer in breeding and supplying natural enemies in high-tech agricultural production to reduce the use of pesticides; while helping to protect human health and the environment.

Sharing with us while applying this process, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, owner of Hoang Ha farm in Pre village, Phu Hoi commune, Duc Trong district (Lam Dong) said: “My family has used 2 varieties of chili peppers. The most popular bell peppers in production today are the Masilia RZ F1 (red) and the Bachata RZ F1 (yellow) varieties of Rijk Zwaan; At the same time, I was also guided by the technical staff of Bio pro - Da Lat Hasfarm to use natural enemies according to the process. Moreover, this year, my chili sold at a higher price than local chili, traders love to buy and sell to high-end markets."

According to Ms. Huong, this year, there was a time when the price of bell peppers sold in the garden was 70,000 VND/kg, the garden was clean from pests and diseases, did not smell of pesticides, and the plants grew well. The use of natural enemies has helped pepper fields to completely control thrips and red spider mites. The chili plant is strong, gives beautiful ripe fruit, more glossy than the usual process, the chili field after 100 days is still very fertile, gives high yield and brings unexpected results.

Ms. Thuyen, owner of Thuyen's chili granary specializing in purchasing chili varieties in Lam Dong province for export, commented: "Rijk Zwaan's seeds give heavy fruit, have a beautiful square of four bells like a bell, thick and hard fruit walls, and good quality. Can be refrigerated for 10-20 days. If the Bachata RZ F1 bell pepper (yellow) meets the needs of the Cambodian and Singaporean markets, the Massilia RZ F1 (red) chili pepper is very popular with domestic customers."

According to Ms. Thuyen, seeing the economic efficiency from the bell pepper variety, many farmers around the area are gradually converting to growing this variety. Moreover, because the chili variety has many novel colors to meet the needs of consumers, the output is not difficult. Therefore, she signed contracts with large-scale growers and purchased both varieties of chili peppers to supply the domestic and export markets. 

Scaling up the process-based planting model

According to Mr. Nien, the first model of this combination was made on 2 bell pepper varieties Massilia RZ F1 and Bachata RZ F1 at 5 different locations in Lam Dong province. The model results show that the bell pepper plants are very healthy, the garden is disease-free and safe for farmers during the cultivation process due to limited direct and indirect contact with pesticides. Bell pepper plants have full potential and farmers can sell their products at a much higher price than conventionally grown products.
