Fetilizer Import Increased In Volume But Decreased In Value

According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), estimated volume of imported fertilizer of all kinds in February is 184 thousand tons with $64 million in value, accumulated to the volume of imported fertilizer in the first 2 months at 561 thousand tons with $167 million in value, increase by 10.6 % in volume but reduced by 3.1% in value compared to the same period of 2015.

Of total figure, import volume of urea is estimated at 46 million tons with $12 million, goes up by 3.7 times in volume and 3.3 times in value compared to the same period of 2015; imported SA fertilized is about 123 thousand tons, reduced 19.1% in volume and 23% in value compared to the same period last year.

Fertilizer is mainly imported from China. In January 2016, volume and value of imported fertilizer from this market dropped remarkably (about 13.7% in volume and 23.1% in value) compared to that of the same period but still make the largest market share of 34.6%.

The market that rose significantly in value is Malaysia (more than 6 times), followed by Canada (more than 3 times). The market that faced biggest drop is Russia, down by 84.6% in volume and 86.2% in value compared to the same period of 2015.
