Vietnam and Denmark cooperate towards sustainable agriculture

The business delegation this time includes 13 leading companies in the fields of: Livestock Solutions, Food Processing Technology, Raw Materials, Temperature Regulating Solutions. These are important areas to help develop agricultural and food production towards high efficiency, green and sustainability.

"The main purpose of the delegation is to share experiences and introduce proven Danish leading solutions in agriculture and food production and to seek cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese companies in the field of agriculture and food. the field," said Sir Carsten Baltzer Rode.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, the Vietnam-Danish cooperation program in the production and food sectors is of great significance to the development of Vietnam's agricultural sector.

Sharing Vietnam's experiences, Mr. Dinh Pham Hien, Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), said that Vietnam has been implementing the "New Vision Initiative for Agriculture" towards towards sustainable agricultural development. In 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development established the Sector Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Working Groups, then Institutionalized into the Sustainable Agriculture Development Partnership of Vietnam (PSAV) in 2015.

“PSAV has focused on connecting actors in the agricultural industry to share experiences, jointly develop the value chain of Vietnam's key commodities in the form of PPP for the purpose of increasing labor productivity. , support income for farmers, improve environmental sustainability in agricultural production", Mr. Hien expressed.

As a result of the PSAV Program to date, many models have been built to demonstrate sustainable, environmentally friendly farming and increase income for farmers in 8 commodity categories: coffee, tea, rice, vegetables and fruits. , pepper - spices, aquatic products, animal husbandry, pesticides.

Some PPP cooperation models have helped increase production by 17%, increase income by 17% and reduce CO2 by 43% compared to some traditional models. At the same time, a number of sustainable linked value chains have been built that meet international standards such as Rainforest Alliance, 4C, UTZ (such as the potato production chain of PepsiCo; the rice chain of Bayer and Vinafood 2; the tea chain). of Unilever, the Pepper chain)…

Mr. Troels Vensild, Head of International Cooperation, Danish Food and Veterinary Department, added more about Danish companies as one of the world's most sustainable food producers. Public-private partnerships are a long tradition of close cooperation between businesses, academia, research institutes and professional bodies in Denmark.
