In recent years, people in Ban Lien commune have taken advantage of the large grazing grounds, abundant food sources, to develop white horse breeding with high economic efficiency and increased income.

Mr. Vang A Mai in Doi 3 village, Ban Lien commune (Bac Ha district) has been raising white horses for many years and considers this as a source of income instead of raising buffaloes and cows. Because they are white horses of Bac Ha, they are very healthy, with few diseases, and the owners do not spend much effort to take care of them.

"My family currently raises 4 white horses. All of them are healthy. Every day just let them eat grass by themselves, without any special care. Bac Ha white horse is very suitable for farming. natural," said Vang A Mai.

Currently, in Ban Lien commune, there are 18 households raising but only 28 large and small white horses. In which, the output of white horse is mainly for food and cooking. This is also the commune with the most white horses in Bac Ha. Therefore, with the linkage model, the commune as well as the Bac Ha district government expect the white horse model to be replicated thereby bringing the best income to the people.

However, people want to have specific policies to support them to raise white horses, helping to increase the herd quickly. Because of lack of capital, when white horses grow, people often sell white horses to get money for their family's living expenses. Therefore, for many years, the number of horses in this commune has only maintained about 20, and has not been able to increase the number.

With white horses being able to participate in performances and horse races every year, Mr. Dang Hung Cuong said that horses in Ban Lien are often afraid of cars because they do not go out often, so this is also a difficult problem. In addition, Bac Ha white horse is a native horse breed, the raising also has the effect of preserving the local horse breed.

In order for the model to continue to develop in the coming time, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Bac Ha District Party Committee Nguyen Thi Nga suggested that households and Party committees of Ban commune need to take advantage of preferential loans from targeted programs. national period 2022-2030 and support programs from the Resolution 10 program of the Standing Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee on agricultural and rural development to continue developing the white horse herd in the area in association with development indigenous tourism; link production with external facilities to build brands, early registration of trademark protection.

With the model of raising white horses in Ban Lien commune, which is also the first white horse breeding model in Bac Ha district, it will help people access techniques for caring, nurturing, and selecting breeding animals, thereby helping to develop and develop new breeds. develop areas of commodity production, concentrated animal husbandry in a sustainable manner, create jobs for laborers, increase incomes, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty for local people.
