According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lao Cai province, after three years of implementation, the OCOP program in Lao Cai province has achieved certain results in the socio-economic development of the locality, contributing to a rapid reduction in the poverty rate down to 11.46%, average income reached 70.6 million VND, the number of communes meeting new rural standards 54/127, new rural criteria reached 15 criteria/commune.

Through the evaluation results and effectiveness of the program, the province has still organized 05 rounds of OCOP product evaluation, recognizing 78 OCOP products of 47 enterprises, cooperatives, and households in the area of 39 communes, wards, and townships in 8/9 districts, towns, and cities. Products belonging to all 6 industry groups are food, beverages, decorative handicrafts, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and tourism and sales services, of which there are 20 4-star products and 58 3-star products. The province has supported and awarded 960 million VND to the subjects, broadcast on provincial television for trade promotion in 32 categories. Organizing propaganda and introduction of OCOP products at 11 domestic and international exhibitions; coordinating with the Chinese partners to organize 02 conferences to promote the consumption of agricultural products, including OCOP certified products of Lao Cai; coordinate with Lao Cai Provincial Post Office to put OCOP products on PostMart e-commerce platform; regularly update OCOP product information to increase news, articles on the web portals of departments, branches, newsletters of Industry and Trade, Agriculture, newsletters of the Center for Industry, Agricultural and Trade Promotion, the e-commerce platform of the province, built a spot to introduce and promote OCOP products in Lao Cai city, organized training courses on e-commerce for over 180 participants from businesses, cooperatives, and production households in order to train and raise awareness of organizations and individuals in applying e-commerce in marketing OCOP products effectively.
OCOP production and service establishments have built a chain of association with households to purchase raw materials for the production of typical products such as tea whose areas are 4,914 hectares, 6,033 households participating; 65ha of Artiso with 150 participating households; Sa Pa chayote 120 ha with 250 participating households; Muong Khuong chili sauce (120 ha) with 755 participating households; Ban Xeo Mien Dao (67 ha) with 250 participating households; Grapefruit Muc (40 ha)130 participating households; Rice Seng Cu 320 ha with 360 participating households. The number of regular employees in the establishments is now 674 people, an increase of 66 people compared to before being recognized. There are 299 ethnic minority workers involved in the production of OCOP products. The income of employees is increased, from 4,651,000 VND to 5,200,000 VND/person/month. To develop OCOP products, Lao Cai province has directed the drastic implementation of Decree No. 98/2018/ND-CP on the development of cooperation and association in the production and consumption of agricultural products, so far there are 69 enterprises and cooperatives participating in the production and consumption of products, with a scale of nearly 10,600 hectares, associated with nearly 21,500 farming households, the value of which is over 926 billion VND. Important products are prioritized for support such as tea, cinnamon, high-quality rice, medicinal plants, off-season vegetables, temperate fruit trees, native livestock and poultry, and salmon and sturgeon.
