In the first 5 months of 2022, shrimp production in Ca Mau reached about 98,000 tons, up nearly 11% over the same period last year, the price of raw shrimp, especially black tiger shrimp, also increased, so people were very excited.
From the beginning of May until now, the price of intensively farmed white shrimp in Ca Mau has increased from 2,000 - 4,000 VND/kg, especially for small size 100 shrimp/kg, purchased in the range of 95,000 - 97,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, the price of raw black tiger shrimp 20 heads/kg ranged from 225,000 to 235,000 VND/kg, up 10,000 VND/kg; 30 pieces/kg were sold from 185,000 to 195,000 VND/kg, an increase of 5,000 VND/kg.
In 2022, Ca Mau strives to have a total fishing and aquaculture production of 630,000 tons, of which shrimp production will reach 230,000 tons, and shrimp processing output will be 157,000 tons.
In order to improve the efficiency of aquaculture in the coming time, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province will strengthen the direction of departments, branches and localities to implement urgent solutions to promote the development of aquaculture in the direction of: improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
In addition, focus on promoting shrimp farming models that achieve high productivity, are environmentally friendly, and adapt to climate change.
Not only farmers are excited because of the high selling price, many seafood businesses this year also set huge profit targets. Minh Phu Seafood Corporation, one of the largest shrimp exporters in Vietnam, has set a target of VND 1,266 billion in after-tax profit by 2022, the highest in the history of operation and nearly double last year.
Minh Phu Group this year expects revenue to reach over 21,000 billion VND, one and a half times higher than in 2021. Export revenue is expected to increase by 23%, thereby contributing 796 million USD, equivalent to 18,500 billion VND.
