Thai Nguyen tea has a bumper crop, with a stable price of 200.000 VND per kg

Thai Nguyen tea is a popular choice for people when it comes to the Lunar New Year. This year, tea price is stable and does not increase much.

In recent years, in the month before Tet holiday, tea price normally rose from 50.000 to 100.000 VND/ kg. There were even some tea production bases and businesses providing market with tea products worth several million VND per kg.

This year, due to the large amount of rainfall and a bumper harvest of tea, tea price remains stable in Tet holiday with an affordable price from 200.000 to 300.000 VND/ kg. Some premium tea products such as Tom Non tea and Dinh tea have a price range from 750.000 to 3 million VND/ kg.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhieu, a tea stall owner at No. 391 Thai market, Thai Nguyen city, said “This year, tea prices are lower than previous years, the current price of branch tea is 350.000 – 370.000 VND/ kg compared to the last year’s price of 450.000 VND/ kg. Because of the cheap price, the number of buyers increase; therefore income is also higher than last year.

Tea production and processing bases in the province have also prepared many diverse products to meet market demands as the Tan Huong tea Cooperative in Phuc Xuan commune, Thai Nguyen city brought to market two brand new teas, namely “Dai loc tra” and “Tra xanh thuong han” to meet high-end customer’s needs.

Tran Van Thang, owner of Thang Huong tea production base in Hong Thai 2 hamlet, Tan Cuong commune, Thai Nguyen city, said “This year, we have prepared a lot of models for Tan Cuong tea specialty to serve customers. Due to favorable weather, sources of product were not scarce like in previous years, so tea prices did not fluctuate much”

With a stable price in this year, revenues of tea growers and tea manufacturing, production, processing bases will not be remarkable. However, it will be an opportunity for customers to choose delicious and safe tea products with affordable prices.
