Humanized native fish stocks, while preserving precious genes and having a sustainable income

Replicating and rearing precious fish resources helps many farmers in Tuyen Quang make a living by their profession. Up to now, the province has 2,225 fish cages, the average annual catch is 9,800 tons, of which special fish is 854 tons.

The specialty cage fish farming has developed while the natural water environment is shrinking, so it is always in a state of not being able to meet the people's demand for seed. To overcome this difficulty, over the years, the fisheries industry of Tuyen Quang province has successfully bred many precious fish species, such as pompano, suddenly, fried.

Thai Hoa specialty fish production and trading cooperative, Ham Yen district was established in 2016. Up to now, the cooperative has 12 members who all raise fish in cages on Lo river in Ba Luong village, Binh Thuan with a total scale of 63 fish cages. fried, fish suddenly. Cage farming, especially fried fish, has brought high economic benefits, this is one of the five rare fish species on the Lo River in Tuyen Quang.

Mr. Phan Thanh Binh, director of the cooperative, said that the source of precious fish seed in the wild is increasingly scarce due to the shrinking breeding environment. If on average, each cage can release about 100 fried fish from the wild, which cannot meet the farming needs of households. Therefore, buying seeds at professional hatcheries, especially Tuyen Quang Fisheries Center, is of great significance.

On average, the life cycle of each litter of fried fish of households in the cooperative is from one and a half to two years, when the fish reaches a weight of 1.5 to 2 kg/fish, it can be sold. With the average selling price of fish from 500,000 - 600,000 VND/kg, each year minus the cost of fish farming households profit from 100 to 350 million VND. Currently, the cooperative's fried fish products have been recognized as meeting VietGAP standards.

Along with focusing on research, rearing and breeding precious fish resources, Tuyen Quang province also deploys the release of precious fish to regenerate aquatic resources. According to Tuyen Quang Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries, in the period from 2017 to 2021, the whole province will release more than 330,000 fingerlings to the natural environment, in which there are many precious fish varieties such as Langur. , fried, suddenly, green beam, Anh Vu.

The regenerative stocking helps to preserve and multiply the precious fish resources that are gradually scarce in the natural environment, especially fish varieties such as suddenly, blue beams need a breeding environment, hatch eggs and let the fry develop. The hole has a clean water source with high oxygen content.

Frying fish, the spawning environment, which hatches and grows, needs clean, tight, rocky water, while the construction of many hydroelectric plants on rivers causes the flow to change, making it difficult for the reproductive process. production and multiplication of the total population of these fishes.

Mr. Dao Duy Quy, Director of Tuyen Quang Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries, said that recently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Vietnam Aquaculture and Seafood Export Processing Joint Stock Company (Hanoi in Hanoi). ), Nhat Nam Fisheries Company Limited (Tuyen Quang) implemented a program to develop aquatic resources at Na Hang ecological lake, Lam Binh.

Through the program, more than 4 million fingerlings of all kinds were released into the natural environment in order to regenerate aquatic resources to create sustainable livelihoods for households living along the Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir.

It is expected that by the end of November 2022, the units will release another 130 tons of catfish and other fish, with an estimated total value of about 10 billion VND. Currently, more than 100 households have participated in the program and signed commitments with the units in ensuring security, mining, fishing and environmental treatment in accordance with regulations.
